Between the 3rd and 14th of June, I had the joy of being once again with Pastor Maurice and his wife Sylvie at the Bethany Centre in Bangui, along with a large number of pastors and Christians from several churches.

There is a still a lot of danger around, despite the presence of the United Nations military forces.  During my stay, several people were shot and killed, or stabbed with a knife or machete.

Many families prefer to stay in the tents provided by the churches and other relief organisations.  Life is not easy and a small, plastic bathtub is also often used as a bed!

We met children in some high-security areas of the country.  Games, songs, dancing, the Word of God and prayer are starting to heal broken hearts.  In one church, whistling can be heard during the praise songs…

The children are starting to come back to school.  It isn’t always easy.  In one high-school, 350 pupils met to hear the Word of God.  Fabulous!  With the Children’s Ministry Outreach – Central African Republic team (AME-CA), we also helped organise sessions to train others how to take the Word of God to children.

Everyone looked after me well, by bringing me a fan to cool me down wherever I was.  What a great team!

I even ate hedgehog for the first time.  It’s very tasty, as long as you don’t forget to remove the spikes first!…
